The film is inspired by the legend of the Veiled Lady, a beautiful woman who appeared at night in the former cemetery of San Pietro in Vincoli in Turin.

Laura is a model who moves to Turin in the apartment once inhabited by her grandmother.

There she meets the painter Cesare Orsini, a tenant on the floor above, with whom she begins a passionate relationship. Their household is not well regarded by a spirit that hovers in the house, who presents herself as a mysterious Veiled Lady and whose appearance seems to be linked to the fate of a painting that portrays a beautiful woman.
